| 19.03.10 Ceri qualified as an Emergency First Aider at Work after attending a training course run by the Red Cross. 11.03.10 Ceri attended a BREEAM/CSH training course which gave her greater knowledge and confidence to carry out the ecological parts of these assessments. 09.02.10 Ceri was delighted to work for EAD over January to February, undertaking numerous projects, including CSH/BREEAM assessments, EcIA reports and a dormouse license application. 17.11.09 Full membership of IEEM! Ceri's application to upgrade from Associate to Full membership of IEEM was approved. IEEM is the professional body that represents and supports ecologists and environmental managers in the UK, Ireland and abroad, and membership is recognition that Ceri is a fully qualified professional. For more information see IEEM's website 01.11.09 In association with Habitat Aid, Ceri is providing a new service specifically for small-holders and landowners. For £400 plus expenses, Ceri will carry out a desk study, walk-over survey and produce a report outlining what habitats and species are present or potentially present on the land and how the site can be ecologically enhanced. 30.11.09 Ceri's article about Devon hedges was published on www.iwalkdevon.com. She hopes that this will be the first of many and that she will become a regular contributor of nature articles to the site! 20.10.09 Ceri delivered a ‘toolbox talk’ about great crested newts to building contractors working on a development site near Gloucester. 16.10.09 Ceri carried out an ecological walkover survey and produced a baseline ecological report for a proposed development of a brown-field site near Coleford, Gloucestershire. Additionally, she completed the ‘Report template’ for Sections Eco 1 to Eco 4 of the development’s Code for Sustainable Homes assessment. 01.10.09 As winter is traditionally a period of low activity within ecological consultancy, Ceri will be offering her ecological services at the reduced rate of £22.50 per hour between 1 October 2009 and 28 February 2010. 01.09.09 Follow Ceri on Twitter! Her username is ecologist_ceri 10.08.09 Ceri undertook dormouse nest box monitoring surveys in woodlands adjacent to highways in South East England. 30.06.09 Agri-environment surveys have taken Ceri to far-flung locations all over the South-West this summer, from the Lizard peninuslar in Cornwall to the high moor of Dartmoor. These surveys form part of the European-wide LUCAS project, which involves recording land cover and land use using a Trimble Nomad, as well as the collection of landscape photographs and soil samples. 03.06.09 Ceri has helped to translocate hundreds of slow-worms from a proposed development site to an adjacent refuge area containing three purpose-built hibernacula. 01.04.09 Ceri passed her Safety Wheel training, which gained her a Motorway Pass and enabled her to carry out ecological supervision of vegetation clearance and tree planting on the verge of the M4. 06.03.09 Supporting environmental charities forms part of Ceri's Environmental Policy and since February, Ceri has been carrying out voluntary work on a part-time basis for the UK's leading wild plant charity, Plantlife. Her role as Volunteer Co-ordinator involves helping to organise and run guided walks, talks and work days. Her new skills will enable her to identify mosses and liverworts encountered during Phase 1 and botanical surveys. 09.01.09 Ceri received her Certificate of Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover, which means that she is insured to carry out work as a consultant ecologist. |
